How to make a chili pasta skillet

Chili. Pasta. Perfection. This one-dish hit is so easy to make, you may want to put it on your regular meal rotation! You'll need a large skillet or pot. This quick, hearty dish serves 6.  The Chili Pasta Skillet, from Lynn Recipes is perfect for nights when you need to get dinner on the table fast.  With just a few ingredients (including canned goods you can just open and pour), you'll have a hot dinner from stove to table in about 30 minutes. 
When you're ready to start your quick dinner make sure to grab:
1 pound lean ground beef, or ground turkey
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, black beans or red beans (drained and rinsed)
1 (14-1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup (2 ounces) dried elbow macaroni 
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chili peppers, drained
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
Red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 cup shredded cheese

To start, brown your meat in a hot pan. Add your onions and cook until the meat is browned. If you want, you can drain the excess grease before moving on to the next step. 
Once your meat and onions are finished, add your beans and tomatoes on top. Add your can of tomato sauce, green chilies and pasta. Now is the time to add any spices you want to include (like the red pepper flakes and garlic salt). 
Stir together until all of the ingredients are mixed well. Cover your skillet with a lid and let the dish simmer until your noodles are cooked. This should take about 20 minutes. 
When the  pasta is finished cooking, remove your pan from the heat and add your shredded cheese on top. Replace the lid and let it sit for two minutes to melt the cheese (make sure the heat is off). 
This quick dinner takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. Serve with a side salad or cornbread. Perfect for a quick dinner, this hearty meal is filling and easy to reheat for lunch the next day.
